Thick Crust Pizza
We never really made pizza like this until Jon had some friends over to do some gaming for his birthday weekend. Before we used to buy this pre-made Sicilian pizza crust from Wegmans, but for some reason they no longer carry it any more. The day of Jon's get together, I went to the other Wegmans in the area to see if they had the crust and ended up having to go with the Wegmans pre-made dough. We ended up loving it and it's now a staple in our house hold. Here's what you'll need:
Place your pizza dough to the cookie sheet and start moving the dough towards both ends.
It won't stretch all the way to both ends. No worries. Let it sit for about 30 minutes.
After you let it sit for 30 minutes, you're going to go back and stretch the dough out to both ends of the cookie sheet again.
See, it's slowly getting closer to the ends of the cookie sheet! Now's a perfect time to pre-heat your oven to 400 degrees. Let the dough sit for another 30 minutes. Your oven will probably be pre-heated before the 30 minutes. That's ok. The heat from the oven will slowly start cooking your dough from on top of the range.
Stretch the dough out one more time. It should be almost at both ends of the cookie sheet.
With a fork, you'll need to poke some holes. This is to help get all the air out that's trapped in the dough.
Looking good! It's now ready for the toppings. I waited until Jon got home from work for him to finish off the pizza.
- pizza dough (the one we got is 1lb 12 oz)
- pizza sauce (you'll only use half a can per pizza)
- pepperoni
- shredded mozzarella
First pour some oil, I'm using extra virgin olive oil, on a cookie sheet.
I then took a marinating brush (at least that's what I use these for, not sure what the technical term is for them) to spread the oil all over the cookie sheet.Place your pizza dough to the cookie sheet and start moving the dough towards both ends.

Pour about half a can of pizza sauce on the pizza dough.
Spread the sauce all over the dough.
Sprinkle your cheese.
And add the pepperoni.
Put in the oven for 20 minutes. Hope you enjoy this delicious pizza, I know our family does.
