The theme for Michael's first birthday party was very simple, Winnie the Pooh. That's the theme his nursery was in and the theme of the baby shower my mother-in-law threw for me. I knew that I could re-use some of the decorations from them. Since we are a one income family, I really did try to be frugal with the whole planning of the party. I did a lot of searching for ideas of things that I could do on my own without spending a lot of money.

Of course, I created an idea board on Pinterest for the party. I'll be adding more to this board if I see anything new that would be awesome for a Winnie the Pooh themed party.

I did purchase some decorations and party supplies at
Walmart and
Party City. I also purchased all the balloons from Party City. The hat and candle were purchased through
Amazon.
During my search of ideas, I ran across a bunch of ideas on
Disneyfamily.com just for different Winnie the Pooh themed parties. They even have these
printable invitations that I liked so much better than anything in the stores. After finding this page and going to Walmart and Party City, I felt pretty good about what I was going to do for the party. Just needed to come up with a place to have it.
Being as we live in a townhouse with a very small yard and we were inviting about 40 - 50 family members and close friends, it was a no go for having it at our house. We had decided that the food would be picnic style (to see more about the menu for the party, read my post
First Birthday Party Menu) so I had looked about renting a pavilion at one of the local parks. The rental fee was just too much for our budget. We are lucky to live in a community that has a club house and were able to rent it out at a very reasonable price.
With the theme and location set, it was time to start getting things ready. I printed out the invitations,
Pin the Tail on Eeyore, a
Winnie the Pooh playset for the kids to play with, some
centerpieces, and some of the items for the gift bags for the kids.
When the guests arrived at the club house, they were greeted by a
cardboard cut out of Winnie the Pooh, a Hundred Acre Woods sign made by my father-in-law for my baby shower, and
balloons (one being a birthday cake). A slideshow of Michael's first year that I had made was playing while everyone ate and socialized. The room was decorated with Michael's big Winnie the Pooh, Tigger, and Eeyore stuffed animals, several balloons, a Happy Birthday banner with a picture of Michael from every month (to see pictures and how it was made, read my post

One game was played since the kids (all being boys) were of ages 3 and younger, Pin the Tail on Eeyore. The winner of the game, received the DVD of the Winnie the Pooh movie that came out in 2011. We decided that since they were all a bit young, that we wouldn't have them be blind folded or make them get dizzy before having to pin their tail. Each boy got to keep their tail as a souvenir.
Each boy got a goodie bag filled with all things Winnie the Pooh.

By the time everyone got to the party, this table was overflowing the presents! Overall, Michael had a great birthday party and fell asleep right at the end.
