A Pumpkin Carving Alternative
Last year we wanted Michael to get into the Halloween fun of decorating a pumpkin. Since he was only a little over a year old, we didn't want to have him carving a pumpkin. On one of my shopping trips to Walmart, I ran across this awesome way to decorate a pumpkin, Mr Potato Head style.

Michael loves pirates so I bought him the pirate kit.
He was a little frustrated last year because Daddy kind of did everything for him - he didn't even get to try.
The finished product.
Since he loved doing that type of pumpkin, I bought all the other kits Walmart had at the end of season last year. This year we gave him a choice of which kit he wanted to decorate his pumpkin with. (I have others, but they are more for girls and we decided not to have the pirate in the mix this year.)
He chose the skeleton kit and had a blast putting it on his pumpkin. It was a little hard for him to actually put the pieces in the pumpkin so, Daddy did help with that.
Both years we've gotten comments about how cool Michael's pumpkins looked. I decided on not getting a pumpkin this year, but if I had done one, I would have done one of the girl ones. I'm not big on carving pumpkins.
Here's the video that we got this year of Michael decorating his pumpkin:
I would definitely recommend this as an alternative to carving a pumpkin.
