Spaghetti Boats - when you don't have leftover spaghetti
So, I decided to try out a new recipe I found via Pinterest. The original recipe is for when you have leftover spaghetti. I didn't have any so this is how I made the spaghetti boats with fresh spaghetti. The
original recipe was from I Heart Nap Time.
Here's what you'll need:
First, get you water boiling for your spaghetti noodles and preheat your oven to 425 degrees.
While your water is boiling, you want to cut your French bread loaf in half.
Then slice through the middle of each half to give you four pieces.
By this time, my water was boiling. Before putting the noodles in the water, I broke them in half. Then took each half and broke them into half. This way the noodles would be bite size and easy to eat. Cook for the amount of time listed on the box.
While you're waiting for the noodles to be done, soften the butter in the microwave.
I used a brush to help distribute the butter evenly on each piece of bread.
I used all the butter.
Add the garlic powder. I accidentally used garlic salt, but it tasted fine. Once the garlic is on each piece of bread, put in the oven for 5 minutes or until they are golden brown.
While the bread was baking and my noodles were done, I added our spaghetti sauce to the drained noodles. I then mixed the sauce in with the noodles to give it that leftover look.
I pulled the bread out of the oven, but did not turn off the oven.
I evenly added the spaghetti to each piece of bread. Then I added the mozzarella cheese to the top of the spaghetti (I forgot to take a picture of that). Put back in the oven for another 5 minutes or until the cheese if fully melted.
There you have it! Jon and I couldn't even finish one piece it was that filling. Even making the spaghetti at the same time it really wasn't that time consuming and very easy to make. My brother ate some of the leftovers and really liked it.
