Half way through the month and still under budget! - Meal Plans and Grocery Trip for Nov. 14th - 20th

So, we are back on track with getting our shopping at least started on Friday and finished early on Saturday.  I forgot how much I love shopping on Friday.  So much nicer and easier than what it has been the past couple of weekends.
Here are the meal plans that I came up with for this coming week:
  1. Pizza Casserole (I'm making this twice)
  2. Tacos
  3. Chicken Nuggets
  4. Spaghetti
  5. Pork Chops
Before we started on our journey for grocery shopping, Jon decided to tell me that they are having a pot luck lunch this week at work and that he has put himself down for pizza casserole.  That's why I have above that I'm making it twice.  Here's the list for Walmart:
  • 150oz Tide  $17.97 (not in picture)
  • 2 cans of pizza sauce  $0.89 x 2 = $1.78
  • 2 bags of shredded mozzarella cheese  $2.48 x 2 = $4.96
  • shredded cheddar cheese  $2.48
  • spaghetti sauce  $1.95
  • package of 4 boxes of tissues  $4.47 (not in picture)
  • gallon of distilled water  $0.88 (not in picture)
The total spent at Walmart was $36.33.  Not too bad since we bought a huge container of laundry detergent that will probably last us several months.

This weekend we actually went to three stores because I'm making a side dish for Jon's family Thanksgiving dinner the weekend before Thanksgiving.  This morning we went to Target to get some of the items I needed for the dish.  Here's our list:
  • 2 cans of corn  normally $1.29, on sale for $0.59  I also got an additional 10% off through the Target Cartwheel app which made it $0.53 x 2 = $1.06
  • evaporated milk  normally $0.99, got 5% off through the Target Cartwheel app which made it $0.94
The total spent at Target was $2.05.  Yep, I'm a big spender!  Off to Wegmans.

Here's the list we were working with at Wegmans:
  • dozen eggs  $1.99
  • tortilla shells  $1.49
  • 2 bags of pepperoni  $2.29 x 2 = $4.58
  • pork chops  $3.99
  • gallon of whole milk  $3.49
  • OJ  $2.49
  • elbow macaroni noodles  $0.99
  • potato chips  $2.50
The total spent at Wegmans was $22.47.  Our weekly budget was $73.03 due to the carry over of $23.03 from last week.  The grand total for our grocery trip was $60.85, which made us under by $12.18.  I also scanned my Walmart receipt with their Saving Catcher app and earned $0.25 for the eggs and $0.25 for the milk through Ibotta.

How are you doing with your budgets?  Starting to buy those items for your Thanksgiving dinner so it doesn't eat into you budget that week?  Stay tuned for the recipe for the side dish I'm making - it's delicious!
