Back to being under budget! - Meal Plan and Grocery Trip for August 7th - 13th

meal plans, $50 weekly grocery budget,
The week before I never got around to making a meal plan or even to the grocery store to buy stuff.  Because of that, we had a much larger budget to work with this week.  It worked out because we needed to replenish our meat in our freezer.  Here's what we've decided on for dinners this week:

  1. French Bread Pizza
  2. Cheese Steaks (already had the meat)
  3. grilled chicken
  4. lasagna (already had in freezer)
  5. pork chops (already had)

Walmart was our first stop.  Here's the list we were working with:
  • Olive Garden Italian dressing  $3.28
  • pizza sauce  $0.98
  • granola bars  $4.98
  • frosted flakes  $3.28
  • lucky charms  $3.28
  • fajita chicken  $5.78
  • pizza style shredded cheese  $2.34
  • taco style shredded cheese  $2.34
  • loaf of French bread  $1.00
  • rolls  $2.78
  • loaf of wheat bread  $1.74
  • gallon distilled water  $0.88 x 2 = $1.76
  • Olive Garden croutons  $1.38
  • 2LT Mountain Dew  $1.48 on sale for $1.00 x 2 = $2.00
  • 2LT Dr Pepper  $1.48 on sale for $1.00 x 3 = $3.00
We spent $40.98.  Off to Wegmans.

Here's the list that we had to work with at Wegmans:
  • tortilla shells  $2.49
  • pepperoni  $2.39
  • OJ  $2.49
  • gallon of whole milk  $3.19
  • pop tarts  $2.89
  • family pack of boneless chicken breasts  $10.95
  • family pack of ground beef  $18.03
  • provolone  $3.89
  • organic green pepper  $1.99
  • head of lettuce  $1.49
  • pizza dough  $2.49
We spent $53.60.  Our budget was $100 since we had the $50 from the week before.  The grand total spent was $94.58 which made us under budget by $5.42.

Jon decided to put all the food away before I got a chance to take a picture and scan the items for rebates on Ibotta.  I finally got around to doing my Ibotta today and looks like some of the rebates are over with on some of the items we purchased.  I did earn $0.20 for the OJ, $0.20 for the green pepper, $0.50 for the Olive Garden croutons, and $1.25 for the 3- 2LTs of Dr Pepper.  I also got $0.55 back through Walmart's Savings Catcher.  All the 2LTs were on sale even cheaper at another store.
