Packing for Myrtle Beach, SC
In hopes to save some money, we packed pretty much everything we could think of that we might need. I also wanted to make our vacation still a vacation and did as much prep work on the food for our meals as I could a head of time.
To read about the meal plans and what all we bought food wise, you can check out my post Meal Plan and Grocery Trip - Beach Edition. We did go to the Piggly Wiggly down there to buy the hamburger meat and some other items we needed. I think the next time we'll buy what we need for the trip down and then do a big run at the Piggly Wiggly when we get there.
Michael and I went to 5 and Below to see what kind of fun stuff they had to bring on our trip. I bought some items to give during the trip to help with our 8 hour drive. I'll be writing a post about it, but it is kind of like what I did for our drive down to Disney (How to pass the time during a long car ride with a toddler). We tried out a few more things to do during this car trip. Michael loved the squirt gun while we were playing in the kiddie pool area and we enjoyed flying the Buzz Lightyear kite on our last night.
We also checked out our local dollar store and bought these items. After looking at what we bought, Jon suggested for us not to bring the silly string because of the cleanup we would have to do. We ended up having a silly string fight in our backyard after we got home. You can't really see it in this picture, but I bought a cheap mesh laundry bag to help hold all of our sand toys (I'll talk about why and how it worked in another post).
I also bought baby wipes so that we were able to clean off faces and hands efficiently. They really did come in handy! I also bought lots of snack items from the dollar store to create some snacks for our car trip down and back. I'll write more about that at a later time.
I made sandwiches for all of us for 5 days worth of lunches. This way we could just grab our sandwiches and eat lunch. No waiting for mommy to make lunches!
Each of us had our own sandwiches and snacks for lunches. For Michael, I made him his staple lunch sandwich of a peanut butter sandwich. We bought applesauce in to go pouches, I prepacked fishies in snack bags, and fruit gummies with his gummie vitamins in snack bags.
Jonathan's lunches consisted of roast beef and cheddar cheese sandwiches, BBQ Fritos, and pretzels.
My lunches were turkey and provolone cheese sandwiches, Cheese Itz, and Wheat Thins.
In our big cooler, we packed all the refrigerated items that we needed while at the beach. We had a smaller cooler that we put all the drinks in so we had easy access during the drive down. We also had each of our lunches for the day in it so that they were easy to get to when we stopped to eat.
What all do you do to prepare and pack for your trip to the beach?
