Pumpkin Village at Leesburg Animal Park
A few weeks ago, we took Michael to the Pumpkin Village at Leesburg Animal Park to have some Fall time family fun. A few years after moving here, we were taking a drive and ran across the animal park and it all decorated for what they used to call Pumpkinville. I knew that once we had children, we would want to take them there. It took a few years, but we finally got around to go.
We've been actually taking Michael to Leesburg Animal Park for the past three years. They are located on James Monroe Highway (Route 15) just outside of Leesburg, VA. Within the past year or two, Leesburg Animal Park has made some huge improvements to their facilities. They now have an awesome building which includes a 3-level kids play zone, indoor animal exhibits, a discovery room, theater, and indoor birthday room.
With Pumpkin Village, you get all the activities that Leesburg Animal Park has to offer as well as all the fun Fall activities they have in store. I most say that I was extremely impressed with their Pumpkin Village. We've taken Michael to their Easter Egg Hunt and were rather disappointed. Leesburg Animal Park went all out with Pumpkin Village.
There are several of little photo opps throughout the park. It's really hit or miss with Michael and these signs.
When you walk in, you are greeted with all of the animal areas and free range chickens. Because we've been there many times, Michael had us walk through rather fast. There's also an area where you can walk in to pet and feed the animals.
Once you walk through the animal part, there's a huge play area of which Michael always runs to. Since it was Pumpkin Village time, they had a bouncy house setup. Of course our monkey had to go in and bounce. He didn't want to leave even when we told him there were several other bouncy house as well as many other cool things to see.
Right behind the playground area is a hill of which they turn into two awesome slides for kids and all those big kids.
One is more for the younger kids and looks like you're sliding out of a spider. Once we were able to convince Michael to get out of the bouncy house, he kept sliding down this slide.
He then saw the bigger, cooler looking double slide and asked Daddy to race him. My two kids had lots of fun racing each other down the slides.
At the bottom of the slides there was an area filled with so much fun. During most of the year, this area is not used. There were several more bouncy houses and lots more activities for the kids to have fun with. Oh, and did I mention you could pay for a camel ride?!?
Something fun for the little ones, a corn bin. So much better than a sand box and a lot easier to clean the kids off when getting out.
There was also a zip line setup. Both lines were only for kids 100lbs and under. I know, my husband and I were rather disappointed. We wanted to zip line as well. Michael had a blast though and Jon got his work out!
There was also a little hay maze of which Michael loved being chased in by Daddy. At one point he decided that he was going to be Pac Man and pretend that Jon was a ghost.
Included in your admission was a hay ride. In the Pumpkin Village hayride, they take you out by the lake where you get to see dinosaurs and other cool, spooky things. They also had a pretty fun obstacle course setup that I think Michael went through two more times without us.
One of the cooler things they had was the pedal power race track. Michael had so much fun here even though he was tired from all the running and bouncing he had already done.
Like I said, they go all out for Pumpkin Village. Since Michael had so much fun this year, I think we will probably be back for next year. It normally runs mid September through the first couple of days in November. You not only get to enjoy all the same things at the park when Pumpkin Village is not going on, but get to enjoy the other events that are just for Pumpkin Village, you get an apple and apple cider for a snack and get to take a small pumpkin home with you. They are all included with your ticket. So, if you're looking for something fun to do with the kids during the beginning of Fall check out Pumpkin Village. If you have children who love animals, check out Leesburg Animal Park for some animal fun.
