A Simple and Elegant Christmas Centerpiece
For the longest time our centerpiece at Christmas was a candle with a plastic ring of poinsettias on our kitchen table and chairs. Since then, we've received an antique dinning room set that just screamed something simple and elegant as a centerpiece.
Jon had bought this candle holder back when he was in college and I never really knew what or where to put it. I decided one year to buy a strand of garland that had movable branches to give it the look of having real pine. I also bought some cinnamon scented pine cones and three candles from Yankee Candles (two are an apple scent and the third one is a cinnamon scent).
I wrapped the garland around the base of the candle holder and have never removed it since. I then formed the branches and inserted the pine cones all around. I always take the pine cones out when putting away so that they don't get destroyed. A few years later, I added the pine cone table runner to the table setting for Christmas to help break up all the brown of the table.
I'm not sure how much everything cost, but I've been using this centerpiece for the past 6 years so the money was well spent. I also never burn the candles which also helps with cost. What kind of centerpieces do you use for your dinning room table at Christmas?
