Staying at Captain's Quarters in Myrtle Beach, SC
If you read my post Planning a Family Vacation to Myrtle Beach, SC, you know that we decided to stay at Captain's Quarters for our vacation last year. We had a great time and have a vacation already in the books for this Summer. Here's all the reasons why we chose Captain's Quarters for our family, friendly Myrtle Beach vacation.
I did all the booking for our stay via Captain's Quarters website. I didn't realize that the room I booked was not what I thought I was booking. The room was in a completely different building and not what I thought I was looking at in the photos on the website. When we went to the front desk and told them the room was not what we were expecting, they had no problem with finding us a more suitable room at no additional charge. The room we ended up staying in was the Oceanfront Double Suite. We liked it so much that this year we're staying in the Ocean View King Suite.
Our room from the beach. This year to try and save some money, we're going with the ocean view instead of an ocean front. The only real thing we used our balcony for was to dry our towels and swim suits.
Michael decided that he was going to sleep on the Murphy bed which was great for us. We just closed the door to our room and watched some TV while little man slept. One of the reasons for getting a suite again this year. These rooms also have a sleeper sofa so, they would be great if you have a large family.
One big reason for going with Captain's Quarters was that they had a deal with everyone's breakfast being included with your room. I liked it that it was one meal I didn't have to cook. I'm not a morning person and breakfast is either nothing or a poptart when we're at home. Breakfast is buffet style, but you can also order eggs anyway you want them. They have a good variety that even my two picky eaters were full every morning.
Also, with a view like this from your breakfast table it's worth it!
Also included in our deal was an hour of bowling at their Level Six Bowling Center. We love to bowl and the fact that an hour of bowling and breakfast was only a few dollars more a day, we couldn't pass this deal up. We're actually doing this deal again this year. I believe that everyone who stays at Captain's Quarters gets at least one free game of bowling, but with this deal you get an hour and shoe rental for free! We were able to get about two games in every day. The only catch is that your hour has to be done before a certain time. We had a blast and are looking forward to getting our bowling on while down there this year.
Another big draw was that they had a different water feature than the other resorts. We enjoyed playing in the pirate ship and being lazy in the lazy river as well as hanging out in several of their pools and hot tubs.
Something else that they offer, but didn't take advantage of was all the different Summer Events they have planned. One of the days we were out on the beach and they were having a dance party with their mascot Salty over by the pool. I'm hoping to maybe participate in some of these events this year.
Can you tell that I'm excited to be going back? We had a great time last year and made many memories. We wanted to have another cheap vacation and Myrtle Beach is the best way to do that. Stay tuned for more posts about last year's vacation as well as all the new things we plan to do this year.
